I will just roll onward with this, minus any preamble about how I haven’t posted in foreverandever. So right now, fresh from my eternal loop of rotating teenage boy-or-girl phases, I am into witchy stuff, and I’m yearning to style myself towards some perplexing combination of that scary white-haired, bloody-egg-cracking, womb-clutching woman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (fine, fine movie), and my personal eternal lifestyle icon, Aughra from The Dark Crystal. But slightly more mannish, altogether.
So, with that inspiration in mind, here is my Cribbers wish-list (part one, with any luck).
From left to right, top to bottom:
1. Tree sprigs and herbish bundles of no particular (apparent) use. Rowan of the Red Berry!
2. Vancouver store, Marché St. George, stocks a variety of rough-woven woolen things in the most appealing spectrum of many greys. I like best the ones that look like they might work as little rugs, maybe, or wall hangings? Wall hangings are pretty witchy, I think.
3. Smooth, black river stones.
4. My sister and I, some while back, were discussing the comparative secrets of certain shiny things. She wrote that one of the shinies had “I like a boy” secrets, while the other had “I know how to make a potion that will kill a man on a night with no moon” secrets. My sister is so smart, and also I want that potion.
5. Darkest autumn honeys – full of all the year’s secrets, speaking of which.
6. Hand made dark-glazed and raw-clay ceramics. Though really that’s just me trying to couch my mundane domestic whatnots within other, cooler themes.
7. Shinies, opaque with iron.
8. Newt friend.
Hchom posts, needless to say, are always easier intended than accomplished – particularly now that I’m working a full-time job. I’m thinking of starting a tumblr, because that seems like it might be an easier way to get content out, without feeling any pressure to arrange things just so. I’ll announce that here, when and if it happens.
Newts are hibernating, this part of the year…
Just proof of how unreasonable I am.
We don’t know about your full-time job, do we?
No, it’s relatively new. I didn’t want to bore people with it (and I’m not even really allowed to talk about it, for that matter), but I’ll go into a little more detail next post.
I am a salamander, basically. Which mean now that it’s getting cold I’m really stiff and move super slowly.
Always love your wish lists. I am on board with wanting those things, but I’d want a baby milk snake, I think.
I sympathize with this! I must be cold-blooded, too, because I have no ability to create my own body heat.
Whoa! You have a job-job? Would you mind if I asked what you do? I work full-time as well and try to make comics in my spare time but, I find it kind of difficult to maintain energy for productivity, when I’m off work. I’m getting better at it now, though!
It can be tough, especially when you don’t enjoy your job…
I’m sure you know all about stuff, though. I hope you have fun with yours!
I’m working at a small software company. It’s pretty fun and I really like the people, so it’s not a slog at all. It is really challenging keeping the creative stuff up, though. I’m having to invent really unnatural schedules for myself, to make it happen.
You’re back! I missed your lists, this is a particularly good one. Do let us know if/when/where you start posting to.
Thanks! I will do.
Our interests are clearly aligned (with the moon, the stars, our darkest souls etc etc witchy things)! I did a “gloomy doodle” every day for the month of October, which lead me to a pretty amazing website filled with spells for “DARK POWERS”, which required awesome things like “red chalk” and “a knowledge of meditation”.
DARK POWERS UNITE.
I looked back and found your gloomy doodles, and they are awesome! I want to do something like that, now. Maybe in January – I think January is as gloomy as months get.
Oh man, do it! I was thinking that I wanted to do one again myself – JANUARY IS A GOOD IDEA!
Ah, really great set. I especially enjoy the plants! Beautiful objects, as always. And yes, please do start a tumblr!
Thank you! Definitely leaning towards it now.
The trappings of witchcraft fill me with deep satisfaction, especially as you draw them. Looking forward to the hypothetical part 2!
Also, I hope that if you DO start a tumblr, you won’t abandon this blog! Tumblr is unfamiliar and vaguely menacing to me– plus, I can’t figure out how to comment on anything. Just my two cents.
i bet rowan of the red berry is good for brandon kisses under the archway!
I feel like rose quartz is such a “i like a boy” shiny.
I hope you get a tumblr, but you ought to get a watermark to put on any art you post there. I have a feeling you’ll get ubar popular and the tumblr nasties like to steal arts a lot.
Do you do comissions? I love your art. I would like an 8×10 of an idea I have. How much would that cost?
This is my life you are describing my everyday desires and constant gender-struggle loops! Am I a knight or a witch? Sometimes even a Crystal Witch Knightress!
I’m working on a Dark Souls-and-medieval-witchery-inspired, “functional” occult jewelry line that I’ll probably sell online! I’ll have to make you some pieces and send them to you, if you like what you see!
That aside, its crazy how similar our tastes are, from plain, traditional fabric, button-up adventure shirts, to so many crystals and bottled potions. Seeing your lists always makes me hunger for the Elder Scrolls-ian, Dark Souls-ian, fantasy-adventure life that I cam never fully have. SO, instead, I just save all the pictures you draw like this, sell my soul to the Souls games, and work on my medieval fantasy ( hopefully ) debut comic.
I still itch to play the game for The Crossing, on w(h)i(t)Ch you extrapolated upon the design of!
samuel eto wins olympic gold It had been throughout this time that Samuel Eto became an global celebrity by helping Cameroon gain the 2000 and 2002 Africa Cup of Nations around the world. He also added to his legacy by scoring the game winner in Cameroon sole victory in the 2002 FIFA Planet Cup and by guiding his native nation to some gold medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. is often an honor to protect the jersey of your country within a tournament like the Olympics, he claims.
